Applicants wishing to amend the details on their Nigerian passport should follow the same application process as when applying for the standard E-Passport for the first time. Depending on the reason(s) for amendment, copies of all legal documents should be submitted in addition to the usual application requirements.
Registration, Adoption and Surrogacy can only process their applications at the NIS Headquarters, Abuja.
To apply for a Nigerian passport, you will need the following documents⁚
- A completed passport application form (available online)
- A valid National Identification Number (NIN)

Online Application Process
The application process for a Nigerian passport is now entirely online. To begin, visit the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) website athttps://portal.immigration.gov.ng/. Select the "E-passport" application form from the passport menu, then choose "STANDARD e-passport". For applicants outside Nigeria, a separate portal is available athttps://passportintl.immigration.gov.ng/.
You will be required to create an account and log in to access the application form. Fill out the form with accurate information, including your personal details, contact information, and passport details. Upload the required documents, including your passport photograph, NIN, and birth certificate. Once you have submitted the application, you will receive an acknowledgement slip and a payment slip.
Payment and Appointment Scheduling
After submitting your online application, you will be directed to make payment for your passport. You can choose to make payment online through various options provided on the NIS website. After making payment, print out the payment slip, which will be required for your appointment.
Following payment, schedule an appointment for biometric enrolment at a designated passport processing center. This appointment is crucial for capturing your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) and will be used to verify your identity. The NIS website allows you to choose a center and schedule your appointment conveniently. Remember to bring all required documents to your appointment.
