Visa on Arrival Requirements

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has rolled out a new Visa on Arrival Application Process for all Business Travelers and African Union Countries except ECOWAS member Countries. Accordingly‚ all Visitors coming to Nigeria from these countries shall be required to follow the procedure for obtaining the Visa on Arrival Approval letter before traveling to Nigeria.

Travelers (except for U.S nationals‚ who have been waived from the fee since March 1‚ 2023) are now subject to a higher visa-on-arrival biometric fee application of USD 170‚ excluding other related visa and transaction fees (up from USD 90). Although the Nigeria Immigration Service has not officially confirmed the new fee increase‚ several travel agencies and online platforms have started to reflect the higher fee on their websites.

However‚ nationals of the United States are exempt from the new fee increase due to a bilateral agreement with Nigeria. Prior to this‚ the biometric fee for Visa-on-Arrival (VOA) applications was USD 90. This means that foreign nationals intending to obtain VOA approval on the NIS portal will now be required to pay USD 170 (except U.S. nationals)‚ in addition to the applicable visa and transaction fees.
