The manor itself is a beautiful 1930s building, modeled after a Scottish hunting lodge, but with a distinctly African feel.

Giraffe Encounters

One of the most fascinating things about Giraffe Manor is its resident herd of Nubian/Rothschilds giraffes who may visit morning and evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary. A stunning turn-of-the-century stone mansion with 12 rooms, it is also home to half a dozen friendly giraffes that poke their long necks into the large windows as guests are having breakfast and join them in the front garden for late-afternoon tea.

The Giraffe Centre

The Giraffe Centre, located just a short distance from Giraffe Manor, is a conservation project dedicated to protecting the endangered Rothschild's giraffe. Visitors can get up close and personal with these gentle giants, feeding them from a raised platform and learning about the efforts to conserve their population. The main attraction for both school children and visitors is feeding giraffes from a raised observation platform. The Giraffe Center is also home to several warthogs which freely roam the area along with the giraffes.

The Giraffe Centre is a great place to learn about the importance of conservation and to experience the magic of these amazing creatures. Activities include forest walks to see the variety of bird species and rare animals found here, visits to the AFEW Giraffe Centre and the Karen Blixen Museum.

The Manor also has a number of amenities, including an infinity pool, a sauna, a steam room, and a hot tub. Guests can also enjoy a variety of dining options, including a restaurant, a bar, and a lounge.
