Federation of Uganda Football Associations: A Look at Uganda's National Football Governing Body

Early History and Introduction of Football

The origins of football in Uganda can be traced back to 1897. British missionaries, led by Mr. Pilkington, a renowned Cambridge athlete, introduced the sport to the Baganda people. Among these missionaries was Rev. Archdeacon R. H. Walker of the Namirembe Church Missionary Society, who arranged for a football to be sent from England.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) was formally established in 1924, marking a significant milestone in the organized development of football in Uganda.
