Step-by-Step Guide to Egypt Visa for U.S. Green Card Holders
Egypt Visa Requirements for US Green Card Holders
US citizens and US green card holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Egypt. Travelers need to apply for their Egypt visa before their travels to Egypt. The e-visa option is the recommended visa for tourism purposes.
The cost of an Egypt visa for US green card holders depends on the type of visa and the processing time. Single-entry visa⁚ 84.75. Multiple-entry visa⁚ 119.75.
The Government of Egypt has created a website for the issuance of e-visas. There are other websites purporting to offer e-visas, but they are not affiliated with the Egyptian government.
Passport authorities at ports of arrival can check the validity of your e-Visa on their system. As is the case with other visas, Egyptian port authorities have the right to refuse entry to Egypt for an e-visa holder without any explanation.
The visa fee is collected through the website using a credit card, after registering the foreigners data.
Types of Visas Available
There are two main types of visas available for US green card holders traveling to Egypt⁚ the single-entry e-visa and the multiple-entry e-visa. The single-entry e-visa allows the holder to visit Egypt only once for a period of 30 days, not later than 90 days after it is issued. Once you leave Egypt, you cannot use the same e-visa again. The multiple-entry e-visa allows the holder to enter and exit Egypt multiple times within a period of 90 days, not later than 90 days after it is issued.
E-Visa Application Process
The e-visa application process is relatively straightforward. First, create an account on the Egypt e-Visa Portal via the registration page. Next, confirm your account registration. Then, fill out the application form, providing accurate information and uploading required documents, such as a passport photo and a copy of your green card. Finally, pay the visa fee using a Visa card, MasterCard or other debit cards. Once your application is approved, you will receive an email notification and can download and print your e-Visa. Present your printed e-Visa to the immigration officer upon arrival in Egypt.
Visa on Arrival (Currently Suspended)
As of 2024, the visa on arrival option for US citizens and green card holders has been suspended. This means that US citizens and green card holders cannot obtain a visa upon arrival at Egyptian airports. They must apply for an e-visa before traveling to Egypt. This suspension applies to both single-entry and multiple-entry visas. Travelers can only pay this amount in cash in either USD, EUR, or GBP. No other currency is accepted for the visa fees. You cannot use a debit card or a credit card to make the payment at the immigration counters.
