The Bono East Region is one of the sixteen Regions in Ghana and forms part of the six newly created Regions out of the existing ten Regions of Ghana․ The Bono East Region was created from the former Brong Ahafo Region․ Techiman is the new regions capital․ Bono East has a population of roughly one million people and a land area of 22,952 square kilometers․ It is bordered on the north by Savannah Region, on the west by Bono Region, on the south by Ashanti Region, and on the east by Volta Lake․ The Bono East Region prides itself as one of the nations regions with amazing tourist sites․ Due to the conservative nature of the people, their culture remains unspoiled by industrial development․ Making it one of the most attractive in Ghana, with many beautiful tourist sites․ Some of the nations most significant rivers which serve as attractions such as the Black Volta and River Tano run through the region and provides many economic benefits to the people․

A New Region with a Rich History

The Bono East Region of Ghana is a relatively new region, having been carved out of the Brong Ahafo Region in 2016․ This creation was in fulfillment of a promise made by the New Patriotic Party prior to the 2016 Ghana general election․ Upon winning the elections, the President, Nana Akuffo Addo created the Ministry of Regional Reorganization to oversee policy implementation․ The region's capital is Techiman, and it has a rich history, being part of the Bono state, a medieval Akan kingdom that played a significant role in the region's development․ The Bono people, also known as the Brong and Abron, are an Akan people of West Africa, known for their matrilineal society and their unique cultural practices․ The Bono East region is a testament to the evolving landscape of Ghana, where new administrative units are created to better serve the needs of the people and facilitate development․
